Italy Rejects Emissions Allegations Against Fiat Chrysler

Volkswagen agreed to plead guilty to criminal counts related to its diesel-emissions cheating and pay $4.3 billion in fines, while US prosecutors arrested one of the company's executives and indicted five more.

Fiat-Chrysler is under investigation by the US Justice Department over its alleged failure to disclose software that violated emissions standards.

Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne told reporters Thursday that the USA probe "has nothing to do" with the issues VW is facing.

United States authorities alleged that FCA violated the Clean Air Act by installing and failing to make public "engine management software" in the 3.0-litre diesel engines of the Jeep Grand Cherokee sports utility vehicle, model years 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, both sold in the US.

"FCA US diesel engines are equipped with state-of-the-art emission control systems hardware, including selective catalytic reduction (SCR)".

The EPA said it found at least eight undisclosed pieces of software on the affected FCA vehicles that can alter how a vehicle emits air pollution.

The European Commission last week called on Italy to provide evidence against Germany's claims that Fiat Chrysler utilized illegal exhaust emissions defeat devices, increasing pressure on the group amidst accusations against it in the U.S.

Siskinds is seeking drivers who bought or leased a Dodge RAM 1500 or Jeep Grand Cherokee containing the three-litre diesel engine.

Google Maps adds Uber integration and a new UI for ride options
When a user opens the Google Maps ride services mode, they'll now see pricing and options from the ride-hailing providers. Uber makes it relatively easy for developers to build this kind of integrations into their apps.

The action alleges the value of the vehicles and the ability to resell them have been diminished, he said.

While British officials seek more information on FCA's alleged emissions cheating, French officials have begun an investigation into possible emissions-rules violations by Renault. When the vehicles sensed they were no longer being tested, the software disengaged and the auto emitted pollutants at an illegal level.

French officials began testing cars randomly past year in response to the Volkswagen diesel scandal.
