Analysts have said they expect auto manufacturers overall would set another Canadian market record in 2016, with sales rising to around 1.96 million vehicles from 1.90 million units in 2015.

GM estimates that the industry sold more than 17.5 million cars and trucks while Kelley Blue Book said automakers probably sold about 20,000 more vehicles than a year ago, or nearly exactly 17.5 million.

General Motors Co. said its full-year sales were down 1.3 percent to just over 3 million cars and trucks.
